| | bitchy | ] | Dear random pugs from over the last week or so that my priest has been in, If I join a group and I'm shadow that means that I made the choice to eat a full length DPS queue because I wanted to DPS. My priest who is level 84 atm will be my 4th 85 and my 3rd healer to 85 and of those three healers she is the only one with a DPS offspec that I love (I used to hate shadow back in wrath but I love it to pieces these days) but if I pick healer plus DPS you can imagine how often I actually get to DPS...never. So sometimes I do decide to pick just DPS and and tab waiting to hear my queue pop. What this means is that if we zone in and the healer drops straight away it is not ok for you to try and bully me into healing so we can just go. I don't care if you think I should be dual specced heals (which of course I obviously am) or hell even if you go and armoury me and come back with incontrovertible proof that I have a healing spec (something I never lied about btw, I always just say I'm here as DPS today) I am still not healing if I don't want to. It is doubly not ok for you to start abusing me and calling me selfish because we have to wait 5-10 min for another healer to replace the one that bailed. Nor is it ok for you to threaten to kick me, to use you 'power' as the almightydouchebagtank to try and get the other dps to start in on me as well (and it is always the tank who starts with the priest can just heal crap, I've never had a DPS instigate it) and other DPS grow a fucking backbone tanks are not irreplaceable -_-
I will put you on ignore, I will not leave the group and get a debuff (if you really find my non healing presence so offensive you can kick me and I will just requeue, possibly even as a healer but not before putting you all on ignore) and I will not heal you - I have had some interesting groups lately where the only person I didn't end up putting on ignore was the new healer. |

Unfortunately, this is very common. :/ I have the same thing happen on my main: I'm dualspecced feral tank / feral DPS, and sometimes I'll eat the 30min+ queue because I'd like to just relax and DPS.
Tank drops, and the reaction is "druid can't you just go tank". I point out that I'm DPS spec, therefore I'm missing all the tank talents (which means among other things I'm crittable), they either demand I go to a capital and respec right that instant, or they armory me and realize I'm dualspec tank at which point they just demand I tank, since I have the spec.
I point out that I took the half-hour queue because I wanted to DPS, and I'm called selfish.
It's even better when the reason we're tankless is because some random DPS wanted to queuehop and queued as tank when they haven't got the spec nor the gear. :|
There are only two things that will make me tank for a group I joined as DPS: one is "it's so late at night that waiting for a fresh tank would take 30min+ and otherwise the group would just dissolve", the other is "a DPS decided to queuehop, demanded that I tank, the rest of the group backed me up and the queuehopper pitched a hissyfit and dropped group".
Anything else, no way. I took the long queue to relax and DPS so I'll relax and DPS, thanks ever so much.
"a DPS decided to queuehop, demanded that I tank, the rest of the group backed me up and the queuehopper pitched a hissyfit and dropped group".
Yeah I have switched from DPS to heals in this case as well when we've had a not healer queue jump.
I like it when I PVP on my priest. I love melting faces in PVP and getting that "Killing blow on Name", It makes me happy. Its the first character I've LIKED pvping on.
But then you get the occasional person who realizes that we don't have a healer in the BG -- Oh! Wait! We have a priest! Priest! YOU HEAL!
Um, no. There's a pally over there, ask him.
YEAH BUT WE WON'T WIN UNLESS YOU HEAL!
If you want a healer for BG's roll one. I'm not healing.
Funny thing is?
We won that one.
I didn't heal.
I did more dps than the mage who complained.
Ug, more reasons for me not to do random heroics. I hate healing. I leveled my priest holy. 80 levels of holy. I was fine with healing until I got to Wrath heroics and I just failed. I just couldn't keep up. Tried disc. Couldn't get the hang of it.
So I discovered shadow and haven't looked back. Unless my guild is running classic or BC raids and we need a healer. We're so over powered I can heal and play bejeweled at the same time.
I would be pissed if some random tank tried to demand I heal. I just don't do it. Period. I love my purple translucent-ness thank you very much.
The extra retarded part is that a tank+3DPS group can queue and get an instant healer, because tanks remain the primary bottleneck in the RDF queue and any group that contains a tank can get a replacement for any other role instantly.
I'm like you - I have a priest with a viable heal spec and set, but I frequently queue as DPS only because I don't want the stress of pug healing. I've yet to be faced with a healer bailing and being nagged to go heals, but if I did, I'd first point out that we can requeue and get instant heals, and if that's not good enough for them, they can kick me, requeue, and get instant heals+DPS. (Bonus: if it's LC, VP, HoO, or other dungeons with excellent MC bait, I'll also point that out.)
I LOVE healing and probably 90% of my runs on my priest I happily heal away but I do adore shadow these days and sometimes I really just want to melt face for a dungeon or two :P
The time of day (early morning, like 2am - 4am early, Aussie time) I generally play my little priest is a bit slow and we can sometimes face a wait of 5 minutes or so but even still that is not particularly long. If the wait time was over say like 15 minutes I would probably offer to requeu as heals but I've never been in a group that's faced a wait that long.
And ooo I finally got to MC stuffs the other night, my priest keeps getting groups with heaps of other cc and tanks that don't like MC when she is shadow (unlike the numerous tanks that have asked me to MC stuff when I'm healing -_-) and it is fun.
As far as I'm concerned, if a hybrid toon has sat out the 45 minute DPS queue, they've earned their DPS spot. | |
