Dear other players,

How many times does it have to be said that you have no actual claim to any location in the game world?

There's a great skinning spot in Silverpine Forest. Up by Pyrewood Village there's a pool with plenty of crocolisks. In addition to there being many of them they respawn quickly, so it's easy to rack up a lot of light leather and get a little medium leather now and again. This morning, I ran my lowbie skinner out there and got to work.

Since I have beast tracking on, I see two green dots going around and around after about five minutes of skinning. It's a pair of druids circling the pool like buzzards. I don't pay them any mind and get back to skinning. All of a sudden, I get a whisper from one of them ordering me to leave. It's "their" spot, they came here to skin, nobody else is allowed to use it, and I had better go.

I wasn't going to leave, but I moved to the other end of the pool. Given the spawn rate and quantity of mobs, there's enough to go around. I get another whisper: "bitch we told you to leave". A couple abusive whispers later, and both of them were reported and ignored. Sadly that meant I still had to deal with their physical presence in-game and couldn't actually get any mobs because they'd pounce on them first. All I could really do was sit down and watch them jump around in circles or stare at me, waiting for me to move.

I tabbed out and eventually got disconnected from the server. I'm sure those two had a good laugh because they "showed" me or whatever.

Players claiming areas of the game as theirs is an enormous pet peeve for me, whether it's a guild taking over a quest hub as their RP spot, someone laying claim to all the resources in a zone, or what have you. It's just annoying.

Still annoyed,
the nelf who just wanted to skin some things

tl;dr Entitled jackasses claim ownership of a tiny piece of the game world, much to my annoyance. Apparently sharing is hard.

I don't really mind RPers taking over and "claiming" an area as theirs, as long as they realize it's an open world and they'll have to share. This effectively means the RPers need to ignore other players, but as long as they aren't rude and actually attempting to kick people out, I don't mind. I'm sorry they were rude to you. :(

Same here. Plus it's been my (limited) experience that people who are RP'ing at their "base" or whatever don't really mind if other people respectfully observe or even join in a little. Good RP is cool to watch... I love it when I find it out in the world. :)

I'm an RPer myself. I pay people who are running about questing and such no mind, and try to not be directly in front of merchants, quest-givers, or anything else important.

The problem is when there's a guild say 20-30 people strong crowding up a quest hub and not allowing anyone else to use it. Ever. I've run across this behavior a few times and it's annoying.

I got a better skinnin spot for you if you're around lvl 24--Wetlands, over by Greenwarden's Grove. :) I go there on my 90s when I need skins or on lowbies if I need to up my skinning skill. :D

ran into a 90 priest there farming for cloth and he wasn't a skinner so he killed shit and I skinned it. Was awesome. Also respawns are within 15 seconds so it's fast. :D

I'm level 32, so I should be more than capable of handling the mobs there.

Yeah that's a great spot. If you need someone to spend a few min up there with you clearing mobs or something I can cross-realm join you for a few minutes sometime. :) Battletag is Hooves#1635! My DK can clear that stuff in like two seconds flat. Then you could get tons of skin for LWing or skill points or for the AH or whatever. :D

Like skinning is so hard one would need to claim a spot? Had a nelf rogue once who was farming quest mobs I needed on my lowibe. I tried to get a few and he managed to get me flagged (killed the mob a half second before I could strike it.). So I hoped over to my capped warrior tank and systematically killed every single one of the dragons he was farming until he went away. It's fun to mess with people that think they can claim a spot.

Sad to hear. I've been having a great time sharing pools of purity turtles with anyone and everyone. The more people there, the more spawns ramps up, the faster mob bits go flying everywhere, to the gleeful noise of skinning knives as bunch of leatherworking types get stuck in before the hard limit on corpses makes em despawn.
Good times. Ironpaw tokens for me, skin for others, vendor trash for everyone!

I had, a few years ago, dealings with a poor n00b who had given a guild a huge amount of money he'd farmed (100K, during LK times), because he believed they had the ability to sell him exclusive mining rights to Grizzly Hills. They told him that, he believed them, he paid them a huge amount of money.

So he didn't understand why no one stopped mining when he told them they were in his zone and to give them anything that they'd mined.

He disappeared from my friend list a couple months later. I really felt bad for him.

I've run into this problem in the Cathedral of Darkness. Once I was farming cloth, and the other time I was farming charms for my pretty bird mount during Love Is In The Air. Some horde jerk always comes in and tries to tag both sides of the room so I get no kills, even though there are a TON of mobs on each side, and they respawn really quickly. I'm content to share, each take a side and stick with it.. but no, some people just have to be assholes.
