No word of a lie, died on my main at level 70 in a starter zone.
(those mountains... they're big!)
I still wish that deaths to the Undercity elevator were recorded like they are for the elevator in Blackwing Descent.
Since I play horde rarely, I don't have any deaths off those, and surprisingly only one death in Serpent Shrine Cavern, but I swear, BWD was my nemesis. At least once a week I fell off that elevator. It didn't matter how careful I was. HATE.
That elevator eats me all the tiiiiime
I was on Teldrassil on my Night Elf at one point and I got a little TOO close to a waterfall over the edge of the tree and fell. I guess it's a steeper one than I was expecting and I died. And then continued to fall as a corpse so I was truly wedged like halfway down the tree. -.-
Every night elf, I repeat, EVERY night elf will die by falling off Teldrassil at some point during their leveling. It's a requirement to become a real night elf. *cough*
I was a night elf in the draenei start zone when I skidded down a mountain on my backside and died (was working on Loremaster stuff). Was horribly embarrassed by that.
My first Night Elf... Fell off that damned tree. I wanted to see what was over the edge and boy did I find out. rofl Fell onto a branch I couldn't get to as a ghost, then kept dying as a ghost to fatigue. Finally figured out I could rez at the spirit healer...
Haha, yeah, I fell off the tree very early on, I hadn't even found Darnassus or Ru'theran Village and so was *very* confused about how to get back up. There was this quest with mobs kinda in the branches, I think. I swam as a ghost around and around and eventually found Ru'theran.
Did exactly the same on my first ever character. That may be why I've been almost totally Horde ever since lol ;)
I played a Nelf Rogue in the vanilla beta, and in the process of doing the level 10 quest, I had to go out on a limb. So I go. And I creep forward. And the WHOLE THING DISAPPEARS. So I freeze. I sloooowly creep back. And it comes back. Okay, think I, I can just walk forward carefully, and the tree will come back when I get close.
Step, step, ste-- I'm falling off the tree, into the Great Sea. I *think* I actually lived through it, because I hit water and surface tension has no place here, and then had to hearth to get out of the situation. Needless to say, the next time I played a night elf rogue was in the brief period between Cata and MoP, and switched her to Sneakypanda as soon as I could.
Thing is, everyone who plays a night elf *MUST* go through initiation of falling off the stupid tree. It's a requirement. My first two toons in vanilla were both nelves and even though my rogue was brought out to level in the human lands, she still fell off the tree before that.
So when my hordie friend server/faction transferred over and changed her belf priest to a nelf, I told her she had to go through the night elf initiation and brought her out to Teldrassil. She didn't know what I was up to until she accidentally fell off the tree and died. I told her "now you're a real night elf".
I shouldn't have been surprised when she race changed it to a gnome as soon as gnomes could be priests. >_<
this happened to me in my noob days. took me FOUR HOURS to find my body. i didn't know I could rez at the spirit thing and even then I couldn't find out how to get back to it once I'd jumped off the tree (and went to far to be able to rez).
When I started playing WoW, that's one of the very first things I did. I fell off a cliff but thankfully, I landed in water. ^_^;
I have 105 deaths by falling. It is common for my guildies to here an "Oh shit" and then I be dead at the base of some cliff or chasm.
I just checked, and my main is up to 4,867 deaths. Of those, 1,984 are deaths in dungeons and raids, 1,708 have been in instanced PvP (1,542 in battlegrounds, the rest in arenas), 59 to falling (and I'm an engineer!), 4 from fatigue, and 1 from drowning (which, IIRC, was on purpose, I think something to do with getting to Spacegoatland). So that leaves 1,111 deaths in the open world from things like world PvP, world bosses, and ninja devilsaurs... divide that over time played (not counting the year I took off during Wrath, of course), and I'm at less than 1 death per day outside of places I'm supposed to die in!
I mounted up and jumped off a cliff one time, thinking I was on my flying mount. I wasn't. Needless to say, I went splat.
Then there was the time I jumped off Warsong Hold --on my flyer this time-- and forgot I hadn't yet trained Cold Weather Flying.
This was my FAVORITE thing about Occulus okay. Every time we got in there on heroic, some doofus died by mounting up instead of getting on their drake.
Done that. Several times. >_<
My very first character was a forsaken priest. He dinged 60, so I sold off almost everything I owned (except my current gear) to buy flying and a mount in Orgrimmar..
And I ran for a cliff.
And I jumped.
And I learned the hard way that Flight License is a whole different commodity.
And Total Deaths: 140, of which 119 are in dungeons. Pretty proud of that!
My main (mage) has five deaths from falling. The total number of times she died from falling before I got the glyph to remove the reagent cost from Slow Fall and the times I haven't used Slow Fall in time put together is only five. I'm a bit proud of that. My priest has five as well. Ironically, they're tied for most deaths from falling amongst my characters, along with my warrior.
My druid only has three deaths from falling, which clearly means I need to be less of a wuss when playing Gravity Chicken!
Across my 7 "mains", I have 896 deaths, which works out at over 1.5 deaths per day. That doesn't sound particularly bad until you consider that I hardly ever do group content of any kind.
My deaths tally averages to about three per day. Of the more interesting totals:
- 4181 total - 3134 in raids/dungeons (2437 in 10m raids) - 58 deaths from falling - 1 death from fire/lava (lol)
Almost forgot the most important statistic, death by elevator boss: 3.
I am sure I have died many, many more times than 386 times, but 386 times on my, erm, 'main-main'. 10 in warsong gulch (haaate) 286 deaths in dungeons and raids 10 from falling 80 times to monsters/world what-have-you. Apparently i am good at this not-dying thing. Go go pali bubbles?
This does not account for my bajillion mains, which I am sure puts me up to more deaths per day than this.
Hmm, it says my main has 1,329 deaths. 26 from falling. 1 from fatigue, one from lava (looking at you Molten Core). 449 raid/dungeon deaths.
I don't think I believe these stats though. It says I have the most pvp deaths in WSG and I HATE WSG and avoid it and it doesn't show ANY for Cata bgs but I'm sure I died in the Battle for Gilneas and Twin Peaks any number of times. And um, no listing anywhere for Wintergrasp or Tol'Barad?
Total kills 160,150. I guess I do spend too much time killing things. Over 33K of them were humanoid, my highest category. Plus 57,687 Honorable Kills. That is rather chilling.
Edited to say, especially given that my "main" is one of about 70 toons and isn't yet one of my two 90s. Aggregating everyone would be scary!

70 toons! O.o And I feel like my seven "mains" plus nine more future-"mains" that I haven't really started playing yet is a lot.
If it helps, I believe your Honorable Kills statistic is the combines total across all of your characters, since all my characters that I checked have exactly the same number.
As a side note, while checking that I discovered this on my mage: Total deaths from other players - 106 Total deaths from opposite faction - 66 Arenas played - 0 Duels lost - 1
...How on Azeroth have I been killed 40 times by players not of the opposite faction outside of duels and arena?!
My lock has the most deaths out of all of my toons. It's because (and this is NOT AN EXAGERATION), I will somehow, SOME WAY, fall off every single effing cliff I come across and die.
All of them.
And now, as of last night, it seems I've swapped that ability to my wee li'l priestling.
Heaven help me.
I have (on more than one occasion), died to falling off of Thunder Bluff.
As a druid.
With feline grace.
Because I forgot to flip to cat form.
769 deaths on my main. 3 from falling (priest). Oddly, she's never been battle rezzed by a DK. O_o I've been playing her since 3-4 months after release of Cata, so not super old character, but closest to a main :)
Somewhere is a Forsaken rogue who has learned the lesson of not-falling.
A few years ago - back during the BC days - my paladin went to Thunder Bluff for the Coin of Ancestry. Using observation, skill and judgement, I got there without killing any guards.
So there I am at level 70 on my paladin, and a level 60 Forsaken rogue attacks me. I have the coin so... I run off the edge.
He follows.
I bubble.
He doesn't.
I ride away. |
