Your class is definitely the new DK; a large chunk of you are assholes and the mere sight of you leaves a bad taste in my mouth at this point.
Aww. :( I really love my monk, to the point that I am starting to think (around level 40) that she might be my second toon to 90! I'd hate to think that the class will have the same bad rep as DKs and hunters (two of my favourite classes). Nothing like having to prove you're not a jerk every time you zone in...
I hope it's just the novelty of the class that's causing this influx of jerkitude? /hopeful that it'll pass!!
I doubt it. Like the rogue, warlock, hunter, and DK classes, the monk seems to be attracting that kind of player.
...my main Hordeside is a rogue, Alliside a DK, and warlock, hunter, and monk are some of my favorite classes to play. ;~; *sniffles quietly in the corner of shame*
... you realize that's your subjective experience, right?
I mean, personally? I pug all the time and I have had terrible experiences with rogues, mages, druids, and paladins more so than any other classes. I've never had any standout problems with warlocks. But I don't go around saying those classes are awful, or that warlocks are wonderful saints who can do no wrong, because different people have different experiences. My experience only overlaps your experience by one class, and I bet if you went around asking people and tallied it up you'd see every class making an appearance. Because the world is full of assholes.
I hope, especially since you are a hunter, that you don't really mean that and that you're just venting and you don't really carry around hatred for a class. You know the rep we hunters have anyway, so you should be especially aware that you can't judge a player by their class. There will be bad players of any class, as I'm sure you know.
I'm sorry if I don't feel like being magnanimous to all other classes simply because I'm normally a hunter or a DK. I'm not your child, so don't act as if it's your place to to scold me.
This actually made me literally* laugh out loud! Thanks!
*And I mean literally, literally not figuratively.
Uh-huh. Unlike you, I don't think that talking down to other people as if they're naughty children is appropriate. But of course, you'll just ~*~laugh~*~ and respond passive-aggressively because you haven't gotten your way.
You didn't make me laugh, but I sure as hell rolled my eyes.
This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Please stop misusing the term Passive-aggressive behavior
. Basically if someone is DOING something, they aren't being passive.
Excerpt from above. Passive–aggressive behavior should also not be confused with covert aggression, which consists of deliberate, active, but carefully veiled hostile acts and is distinctively different in character from the non-assertive style of passive aggression.
Passive aggressive behavior can manifest itself as learned helplessness, procrastination, hostility masquerading as jokes, stubbornness, resentment, sullenness, or deliberate/repeated failure to accomplish requested tasks for which one is (often explicitly) responsible.
The difference might seem subtle to you, but it's really huge.
Fine, maybe I used the wrong term there. However, as long as we're playing with definitions, here's one for you:
Acting in a way that betrays a feeling of patronizing superiority
- she thought the teachers were arrogant and condescending
(of an action) Demonstrating such an attitude
- a condescending smile
That? That is the attitude you have been displaying. It's sad that you don't seem to realize it, or that people might not take kindly to it.
But go on, keep trying to take the moral high ground and reassuring yourself of what a good person you are. It won't do much to hide the fact that you seem pretty toxic though.
I feel like I'm missing something because nothing in mirhanda
's original comment came across as condescending or combative to me, and I thought they made a valid point.
For the record, I agree that meter spamming and claims of carrying anyone in sub 80 dungeons, as well as petty arguing is obnoxious behavior. I've had plenty of bad experiences with players of every class in WoW, but I tend to judge the player not the class, and I wouldn't be surprised if a normally considerate and good player would be offended at being generalized negatively solely based on their class.
I laughed. And I totally agree with you.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who found her tone uncalled for.
It could have been worse...
WAHH FEEDSHOT AUTOPET IS SO HARD ONE ONE LOL!
Ahem. I didn't get you having a chip from your post. Seemed to me like you were venting, and rightly so. Gonzo monks so high they make Hunter S Thompson proud in the grave seem to be sadly commonplace, much like gonzo DK;s still are
Pretty sure Hunter S. Thompson would roll over in his grave at seeing 'gonzo' used in such a capacity, both in this comment and your later post.
Guys, if there's personal drama between you two, leave it out of the community, please. Freezing this thread before it escalates any further.
Oh gods, why do people do this in lowbie dungeons?
My partner has a DPS pally, and she's been taking shit on him and her Warrior in...Blackfathom Deeps. Get a life, people. If you want to check on your own DPS, it's all good, but don't use it to measure your epeen.
The heirlooms and the five level difference are always what really do it for me. Of course you're topping the charts, you have a considerable leg up on everyone in levels and much better gear.
Not to mention by the time you're level twenty, I don't think hitting random even throws you into RFC anymore. It's far more likely to boot you into WC, SFK, or BFD. Especially SFK. Chances are the dude purposely chose the dungeon in order to show off his "awesomeness".
I hate people who spam Recount in dungeons. I don't care what level it is. I put them on ignore. XD
Ugh, I hate that. I personally run recount because I like to know where my DPS is, and if asked, I'll post it for people (my gf for instance doesn't run it because if she has it up all the time she'll get panic attacks due to hyperfocus, but likes to know on occasion)... but in RFC?
What is it about RFC and that anyway? I think I've seen recount spamming most often in that instance, and seriously? It doesn't matter.
Although I have had different experience re: monks. I have honestly seen more crap towards monks and people learning to play them (which, lbr, is gonna happen). My gf is trying to get her tank rotation sorted out (which pretty much requires instances to learn) and people of pretty much every other class are pulling for her and refusing to let her tank (and do not get me started on warlocks in groups using Dark Apotheosis, which increases threat by 500% -- NO YOU ARE NOT TANKS, STOP IT (and no, they are doing it intentionally, it's not an accidental "learning new spell and not realizing that it increases threat and turns Soulshatter into a taunt)).
TL;DR - PUGs suck. :(
I have honestly seen more crap towards monks and people learning to play them (which, lbr, is gonna happen).
This is the main reason that my monk, who is main-specced Mistweaver stopped doing dungeons around level 30 and has been questing 100% of the time. I want to heal when I hit 90 and I realize I'm going to have NO idea how to do that, but at least my test subjects will be guildies/people I know.
I had hoped to learn as I leveled but with the way LFG is these days... Uh. No thanks.
